Robertson Wine Tours

Robertson wine tours compared: Golden Mile safaris, private blending days, McGregor wine walks and e-bike rides, with prices and what is included.

Last checked: 6 October 2026

The Robertson Wine Valley follows the Breede River through Robertson, Ashton, Bonnievale and McGregor. It's known for Chardonnay, Cap Classique and relaxed, family-run cellars, and a Robertson wine tour here can mean a zebra-striped safari truck, a blending session, a fossil-hunting wine walk or an e-bike ride between farm gates. This guide covers the tours run in and around Robertson, including the stretch of Route 62 that passes through the valley.

Every tour was checked on the operator's own website on 6 October 2026. Most of these prices show no year, so they're labelled "no year shown". Where a year is given, we say who published it. We also say whether tastings and lunch are included.

Distinct trait: the valley's dedicated wine-tour company, with zebra-striped vehicles and a menu of themed days.

Wine Valley Safari runs Monday to Saturday (Sundays on special request) from Robertson and Montagu, in a converted Isuzu safari truck, a 22-seat Sprinter, vintage Kombis, a Jeep Wrangler or a Mercedes V-Class. Its FAQ says tours include tasting fees, a full day runs about five to six hours, there are discounts for seniors, children and non-drinkers, and wine you buy is kept on the vehicle. Accommodation pickup is possible for a surcharge. The Montagu departure point is given in two places (Kupenda Africa, 6 Kohler Street, on the tour pages; Blou Pieke Boutique Hotel, 48 Long Street, on the booking form), so confirm where to meet.

  • Classic Golden Mile: three wineries chosen from Van Loveren, Ashton Winery, Bon Courage, Viljoensdrift and Excelsior, with 13 wines on the product page (11 on the homepage). R650 per person, tastings included, lunch not included (no year shown). Add the Viljoensdrift river cruise for R120 per person.
  • Golden Mile Deluxe: build your day from three experiences: a Viljoensdrift tasting and river cruise, Cap Classique and a pairing at Van Loveren, Cap Classique and nougat at Bon Courage, bottling and blending at Excelsior, or a heritage or chocolate pairing at Ashton.
