Wine Farm Wedding Venues in Hermanus and Walker Bay
Verified Hemel-en-Aarde and Walker Bay wine farm wedding venues: valley and sea views, capacity, stays and dated prices.
Last checked: 5 October 2026
Walker Bay is where the winelands meet the coast. Within half an hour of Hermanus you can marry beside the Bot River lagoon, in a chapel among Botrivier vineyards, on a Hemel-en-Aarde ridge above the valley or on a farm on the Klein River near Stanford. This guide lists the wine farm wedding venues Hermanus and Walker Bay couples can verify from official estate pages and wedding packages, so you can compare guest numbers, settings and stays before you start enquiring.
How we checked this
Every venue below comes from our Walker Bay wedding venue audit (outer Cape regions file), checked against official estate websites, wedding pages and package PDFs on 5 October 2026. We only list farms with published evidence that they host weddings or wedding-style celebrations. Venues marked Limited offer private functions or intimate celebrations without naming weddings, or only partial evidence, so treat them as leads to confirm. Capacities are as audited. Prices appear only where the venue publishes them; most Walker Bay estates quote on request.
Why marry in Hermanus and Walker Bay?
Sea, lagoon and mountains. Few wine regions put vineyards this close to the ocean. Benguela Cove sits on the Bot River lagoon, the Hemel-en-Aarde farms look over fynbos and Cape fold mountains, and the Stanford estates face the Klein River mountains.
A weekend away. Hermanus is far enough from Cape Town that most guests will stay over, so many couples plan a full weekend, with welcome drinks, the wedding and a Sunday brunch or whale-watching walk. Several farms have cottages, villas or a manor house, and some ask you to book them all.
Distance. Allow roughly an hour and a half to two hours from Cape Town and the airport in normal traffic, via the N2 over Sir Lowry's Pass. Bot River estates are on the way, so they're the closest; Hemel-en-Aarde and Stanford venues add the drive along the coast.
Seasons. Summer is the busiest time for outdoor ceremonies, though the coast can be windy in the afternoons. Winter is cooler and wetter, but it's also whale season in Walker Bay, roughly from June. Pick a venue with a real indoor plan, such as Wildekrans's chapel and glass house. More on timing in our best month to get married in Cape Town guide.
Verified wedding venues Hermanus and Walker Bay wine farms offer
We've grouped the venues by setting and what each does best, not by score.
Lagoon and large weddings
Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate. The region's most complete wedding offer, and its only lagoon-side one. There are six spaces: a venue beside the barrel cellar (80), a vineyard garden (80), a waterfront venue (60), the restaurant (180 seated), a lagoon sunset deck (150) and a lagoon lawn for marquee or glass-structure weddings of up to 300. Packages run from an elopement for 2 to 20 guests through classic (50 to 150) and grand (150 to 300) weddings. Thirteen architect-designed villas, some with hot tubs, are on the secure estate, and there's an in-house culinary team and a dedicated wedding coordinator. Helicopter arrivals and lagoon cruises are optional extras. Proposals are custom, so no prices are published.
Chapel weddings with on-farm stays
Wildekrans Wine Estate. A Botrivier estate with a chapel seating 130 and a ceremony lawn, both included so you have a weather plan. Receptions are in Harmonie, the glass house, for 140 with a dance floor (155 if the dance floor moves to the lawn). Catering is in-house only, with Wildekrans wines, and an event manager runs the day after a complimentary tasting and planning meeting. Nine country cottages sleep 38, and weddings must book all of them. The venue closes at midnight, or 1am for an extra R3 500 (2025/6 package, as published by the venue). Rates are on request.
Arcangeli Wines. An intimate, weekend-exclusive venue with its own chapel and gardens, in vine-covered hills at the foot of the Hottentots-Holland mountains. The function venue seats 60 indoors, plus 20 outdoors. You get exclusive use of the venue, chapel, gardens and parking from Friday 16:00 to Sunday 12:00 for R25 000, VAT inclusive (current functions page, undated; checked 5 October 2026). Catering and bar are managed in-house and charged separately. Four luxury suites plus a fifth room are on site. There's no in-house functions team any more, so you'll bring your own coordinator, décor and DJ.
Hemel-en-Aarde wedding venues
La Vierge Wines. Exclusive use of the restaurant, deck, lounge and VIP area on a ridge with sweeping Hemel-en-Aarde Valley views, for up to 120 guests indoors and outdoors. Chef Rachel's in-house team caters, and the bar is run only by La Vierge, with no outside caterers or alcohol. Packages include a chef consultation and wine pairing; a menu tasting is R1 200 per couple (2026, as published by the venue). Venue rates aren't published.
Stanford and the Klein River
Stanford Hills Estate. A Stanford wine farm wedding for up to 100, with in-house menus from a spit braai and salads to five courses. The estate has a historic Manor House that sleeps 11, cottages, Vineyard Villas and AfriCamps glamping tents, so many guests can stay on the farm. Brides have arrived by aeroplane, boat, horseback and tractor. Quotes are on request.
Boschrivier. A small-wedding farm venue near Stanford for up to 100, with an indoor venue, indoor braai and bar, plus a big lawn. Five self-catering houses on Boschkloof sleep 36 in total, and the venue is wheelchair-friendly. Catering must be outsourced. No price published.
Stanford Valley Wines. Take over the whole 440-hectare Klein River valley farm for a wedding weekend, with views to the Akkedis mountains, the Ouhuis stoep with its open braai fireplace, lawns, a Manor House restaurant and cottages. No wedding capacity or price is published, so confirm numbers early.
Walker Bay Estate. A riverside restaurant on the banks of the Klein River with an amphitheatre, mountain views and ample parking. The restaurant team says it can host a wedding or large gathering. No capacity or price published.
Bot River farm style
Gabriëlskloof. "From slow farm lunches to vineyard weddings": long tables under the olive trees, with wood-fired food from The Kitchen Door restaurant. The 1910 Farm House has three en-suite bedrooms for the couple or family. No capacity or price published.

Getting there and guest transport
From Cape Town, the N2 over Sir Lowry's Pass takes you to Bot River, where Gabriëlskloof, Wildekrans and Benguela Cove are a short drive from the N2 or R43. The R43 continues to Hermanus and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley turn-off, then on to Stanford. Roads are dark and winding at night, so book a shuttle between the venue and guests' accommodation. Our wedding guest transport guide covers timing and costs.
Where guests can stay nearby
Book on-farm stays first, especially where the venue requires it, as Wildekrans does. Hermanus has the widest choice of hotels, guesthouses and holiday homes, Stanford has village guesthouses, and Bot River suits guests who want a shorter drive back to Cape Town. In whale season and over the December holidays, book early.
