Robertson Winery is a wine farm in Robertson, Western Cape. About 135 km from Cape Town.

Robertson Winery: cooperative heart of Robertson town

Robertson Winery is the historic cooperative cellar in Robertson town itself—not to be confused with Roodezandt (Voortrekker Street co-op RF with a McGregor door) or Rooiberg (R60 red-chair cellar). Founded in the early 1940s in regional wine history, it markets under the motto More to Share, with an extensive brand ladder from entry-level lines through cultivar ranges to the Constitution Road flagship Chardonnay and Shiraz. The tasting-room experience is deliberately family-friendly and fee-transparent on the official Our Tasting Room page.

Address correction: Voortrekker Road, not “1 Constitution Road”

Seed/Wined-style 1 Constitution Road is misleading for the visitor door. Official tasting-room contact lists 4–6 Voortrekker Road, Robertson, Tel 023 626 8817. The Contact Us location block lists 17 Voortrekker Road, Robertson, 6705. Treat the tasting room as Voortrekker Road in town; use 4–6 for day-visitor navigation and resolve 17 vs 4–6 with staff if needed. Constitution Road is the flagship wine brand name, not the street address to punch into GPS for tasting (Wined GPS in brief: 33°48'36.8"S 19°52'51.4"E).

Email corrected from seed info@robertsonwine.co.za to official info@robertsonwinery.co.za (also customercare@robertsonwinery.co.za). Prefer tasting-room Tel +27 23 626 8817 for walk-in/group logistics over head-office +27 23 626 3059 or marketing +27 21 822 5444.

Published tasting fees (official)

From Our Tasting Room:

  • R50 pp — select any five wines from the extensive range (excluding Constitution Road)
  • R100 pp — flight of 5 famous cultivar-range wines paired with Lindt Excellence chocolates chosen by the winemakers
  • R140 pp — two top-tier wines: Constitution Road Chardonnay and Shiraz
  • R200 pp — underground cellar tour paired with a standard wine tasting

Cheese & meat platters (and DIY baskets) are offered with wine—do not invent platter rand prices from tourism blogs; ask at the counter for current platter tariffs.

Trading hours (official tasting page)

  • Monday–Friday: 09:00–17:30 (last tasting 17:00)
  • Saturday & Public Holidays: 09:00–15:00 (last tasting 14:00)
  • Sunday: 11:00–15:00

Contact-page Wine Sales hours omit Sunday and list Mon–Fri 09:00–17:30 / Sat & PH 09:00–15:00—prefer the tasting-room page for visitor planning, and still phone ahead for public holidays.

Groups, kids, access

Bookings essential for groups more than 5, confirmed at least 48 hours in advance (official). Amenities flagged: wheelchair access, kids welcome, small pets allowed. Limited indoor space led to an upward RW climbing structure—signature photo spot for families. Conference / special-event / underground-cellar venue hire is listed separately (capacities cited around 20 for conference/special events and 42 for underground cellar)—only RW wines from the range allowed on premises for events; enquire via tasting-room channels.

How this differs from Roodezandt and Rooiberg

Keep brand stories separate:

  • Robertson Winery — town tasting on Voortrekker, published R50–R200 ladder, Sunday trading, kids climbing frame
  • Roodezandt — 18 Voortrekker Road, Mon–Fri only at Robertson door, amalgamated RF with McGregor premises
  • Rooiberg — R60 / Vinkrivier, giant red chair + Red Chair Bistro, different hours and no inventable standard tasting rand fee from blogs

Mixing their copy confuses travellers and pollutes SEO uniqueness.

Planning the visit

Arrive before last tasting cut-offs—especially Saturday (14:00 last tasting). Families can combine a short flight with the climbing-structure photo stop; serious drinkers can step up to Constitution Road or the cellar-tour package. Buy wines to take home after tasting; trade/local wholesale routes run via Vinimark (listed on Contact), which is irrelevant to cellar-door guests.

At a glance

  • Capacity: underground cellar about 42; conference/special-events spaces about 20 each
  • Format: bridal showers and small gatherings rather than full wedding packages

Do not plan a large reception here without written confirmation that your format is allowed. Before you book, ask for a written summary of inclusions (tables, linen, staffing, bar and ceremony set-up), finish times, the rain plan and any compulsory suppliers. Capacities and packages change, so rely on the estate's dated quote for your guest list and season.
