Wine of Origin ward

Durbanville wine farms

Sixteen farms on the Tygerberg hills, 15 to 27 km from central Cape Town. Nine of them publish Sunday as open.

Durbanville is the northern shortcut. The farms sit 15 to 27 km from central Cape Town, on the hills above the town, so a morning here can still be a city afternoon.

Nine listings publish Sunday as open: Diemersdal (walk-in, 09:00 to 17:00), De Grendel (from R150, and open on public holidays), Durbanville Hills, Bloemendal, Groot Phesantekraal, Hillcrest, Meerendal, Maastricht and Canto. Klein Roosboom publishes closed Sundays. Kronendal and Mellish Family Vineyards say book ahead and do not publish a Sunday line, so do not assume the door is open.

If you want a table with the tasting, Bloemendal, De Grendel, Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills, Groot Phesantekraal, Hillcrest, Meerendal and Signal Gun are marked with a restaurant. Meerendal is the one with a stay. Altydgedacht and Rust en Vrede Durbanville are on the map with little visit detail, so pick a farm that publishes a phone.

Farms whose website we could read are listed first. Phone, hours, and a photo put a farm further up that list.
