Wine of Origin ward

Constantia wine farms

Eleven farms in the valley behind Table Mountain, 9 to 12 km from central Cape Town. Most pour on Sunday, and most can feed you.

The mapped Constantia farms sit 9 to 12 km from central Cape Town, in the valley behind Table Mountain. This is the wine stop you can do without giving the day to the winelands.

Eight of the eleven have a restaurant: Beau Constantia, Buitenverwachting, Constantia Glen, Constantia Uitsig, Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Silvermist and Steenberg. Silvermist and Steenberg also have a place to stay, so the valley works as a night as well as a tasting.

Sunday is a normal pouring day at Groot Constantia (09:00 to 18:00), Klein Constantia (10:00 to 17:00), Constantia Glen (Sunday to Thursday, 10:30 to 18:00), Constantia Uitsig, Silvermist, Steenberg and Ambeloui in Hout Bay. Klein Constantia asks you to book ahead. Buitenverwachting and Constantia Royale publish closed Sundays. Eagles' Nest has a phone and a website and no hours on the listing, so call before you count on the door.

Farms whose website we could read are listed first. Phone, hours, and a photo put a farm further up that list.
