With a restaurant With a place to stay

Farms with the most visitor information (opening hours, phone numbers, photos) are listed first.

Elgin sits high enough and close enough to False Bay to stay cool when Stellenbosch is hot. It is a Wine of Origin district in the Cape South Coast region (historically discussed as an Overberg ward). Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a little Riesling are the serious conversation; orchards and farm stalls are the visitor texture.

The drive from Cape Town over Sir Lowry's Pass is part of the pleasure. Farms are less dense than Stellenbosch, often tucked among fruit trees. A mapped list helps because names that sound like Elgin may sit in Grabouw, Houw Hoek or over the hill toward Bot River.
